Romans 9:14-33

I. Let’s continue in the idea of election as discussed last week. V18-33

A. Hope we will look at this today and have a better idea of what is being
Discussed.

1. In Rom. 9:18-24. (We see this discussion that Paul makes that sounds as if
Yahweh , when He created, created some people bad and some good, but
That is not really what is being said here)

a. Turn with me to Rom. 8:28-30. (In this passage we find Paul talking
about a passage we all look and very likely have used from time to time
as an encouragement when we are going through difficult time, and it is
an encouragement to know that He will turn the bad things in our life
to be what is good for us instead of what the enemy intended to harm us)

b. Now here is where we struggle a bit. (In Rom. 8:29 it says that those He
fore knew, now let’s talk about this for a minute, if we believe that our
Yahweh is omnipresent, then we also have to believe that He has fore-
Knowledge of all time look at Rev. 1:8, 21:6, 22:13 which would make
Him present in the beginning and in the end of time)

1). Look also at Is. 44:6. (In this passage we find Isaiah prophesying about
The One who sits on the throne of Israel and says the He is the Ree-
shone meaning the First and it identifies with before time)

2). But it also says. (That He is the Last, and the Hebrew word for that is
Akh-ar-one’ meaning hinder, last or to BE after time exists)

3). Now in Rev. 1:8. (We find the Alpha being the first letter in the
Alphabet, but interestingly this actually comes from Hebrew origin
And means first)

4). And the last part. (This would be Omega, which means last, but it fully
Means finality the very end of all time as we know it)

c. So having looked at this. (We are able to see or maybe take a glimpse
into Yahweh’s reality of being able to know the first from the last and
all that is in between, so is able to make His decisions based upon His
personal know of all things)

d. Let’s go back to Rom. 8:28-30. (In Rom. 8:29 it says that those that He
foreknew He also predestined, this word means to be predetermined or
to be fore ordained, now we want to be careful here, because the part
about predestination is that those He foreknew He predestined them to
be conformed to His Sone Yahshua Messiah)

1). Turn to Eph. 1:3-6. (Look specifically at Eph. 1:5 the predestination
Has to do with Yahshua Messiah being the one we go through to be
Adopted into the Father’s household, and look at Eph. 3:3-6 and it
Has been revealed that Gentiles are to be part of the same body
Through the same Gospel)
e. Now back to Rom. 9:23-24. (Now having gone through these passages of
Scripture helps us understand what Paul is discussing here as Paul is
Now bringing to summation of what he is talking about, Yahweh is in
The process of bringing the Gentiles into the same household as the
Jews, look at Eph. 2:13-15)

1). The law and regulations. (That Paul is discussing here in Eph. 2:15, is
A plague that was posted where the court of the Gentiles at the
Temple complex that read, “No foreigner is to go beyond this wall and
And plaza of the temple zone. Whoever is caught doing so will have
Himself to blame for his death which will follow. And that is what it
Means that He tore down the dividing wall)

f. Back to Rom. 9:25. (In this next verse Paul uses Hosea about the Gentiles
here as we look at this, Hosea 2:23, and it says I will sow her in the land
for Myself, and I will have compassion on No Compassion; I will say to
Not My People; You are My people, and he will say, You are my
Eloheem)

1). So let’s go back to find out the context. (In Hosea 1:1 we find that this
Word came from Yahweh and was for the Kings of both Judah and
For Israel)

2). Hosea is to marry a wife of whoredoms. (And he was to have children
With her and Yahweh says that the land, meaning the people of the
Land are committing whoredoms and abandoning Yahweh, this wife,
To make it clear in Israel and Judah whom Yahweh had married and
Is His wife Hosea 2:2 we see Yahweh writing Israel a certificate of
Divorce)

3). Now back to Hosea 1. (Notice that in verse 4 when Gomer first
Conceives it is to a boy that is named Jezreel which in Hebrew means
To sow or Yahweh scatters seed)

a). She conceives again. (This time to a daughter that Hosea is to name
No Compassion, and Yahweh gives the meaning here, it is because
Yahweh will no longer have compassion on Israel Verse 6)

b). After Gomer weaned No Compassion. (She conceived a boy and Hosea
was directed to name him Not My People and once again Yahweh
gives the definition and says because you are not My people, but goes
on to say that the number of the Israelites will continue to grow like
the sands at the sea which cannot be numbered, and as we already
discussed Yahweh divorces Israel in Chap. 2 of Hosea)

c). But also in Hosea 2. (We find a restoration taking place, starting in
Hosea 2:14 we find that Yahweh is leading Israel out into the desert
He says He will speak tenderly to her and He will restore her
Vineyards and she will respond to Him as in her youth)

d). Now look at Hosea 2:16. (You will call Me, “My Husband” and will
no longer call Me, “My Baal”, so in this it would seem that by their
worship of Baal that they actually thought they were worshipping
Yahweh)

e). Look at Hosea 2:19-20. (He will take Israel to be His wife forever, in
righteousness, justice, love, compassion and faithfulness, now look at
verse 23 and He will sow or scatter the seed in the land of Myself and
I will have compassion on No Compassion, and I will say to Not My
People You are My People, Paul is equating the Gentiles in Rom. 9:
25 to these people in Hosea)

f). We can also look. (At Rom. 6-7 about a New Life and the ideal of
remarriage if you will and we had talked about that when we had
gone through those sections of Scripture)

g. Now back to Rom. 9:27-28. (Paul quotes Is. 10:22-23 which warns that
even though Israel is as numerous as the sands of the sea it will only be
a remnant who will return, remnant in the Hebrew means remainder or
a residue who will return)

1). And in Rom. 9:29. (Paul quotes Is. 1:9, showing Yahweh’s mercy, if
Yahweh had not left us with a few survivor’s we would have been like
Sodom and Gomorrah, completely wiped out, read Is. 1:9-17)

h. And it really comes down to. (Rom. 9:30-33, the reason the Gentiles or
those that Paul identifies through Hosea and Gomer and their offspring
have pursued righteousness by faith, were as Israel had pursued the law
for righteousness)
