Rom. 5:6-11

INTRODUCTION:

1. Turn with me in your Bibles to Romans 5:6-11.

2. Last week we took a look at Rom. 5:3-5.

3. We saw, Building our character V3-5

A. It is interesting that we actually are built through affliction.

1. The reason I say that is because. (The world does not see being afflicted as
Something that would bring a good character, and I think we struggle
Struggle with that idea as well sometimes)

a. Look at Rom. 5:3. (The word rejoice in the GK means to boast, to glory,
to have joy, and to rejoice in this is not what we would normally tie
together the idea of suffering and rejoicing)

b. The word afflictions. (GK is to be afflicted, anguish, burdened,
persecution, tribulation, and trouble and once again these not things
that bring out the warm and fuzzy in me, how about you?)

c. Turn to Acts 5:33-42. (In this passage they had been put in jail for
preaching the Gospel and they were taken before the Sanhedrin and
they were told not to preach in that name again, but they rejoicing that
they were found worthy to be dishonored for His name)

d. Look at 1 Peter 1:3-12. (Notice, That Peter speaks of this too and in
terms of our faith being refined by fire and gives the picture of a refiner
turning gold into a liquid and removing the dross from the gold so that
when he is gold he will be able to see his own reflection in that gold)

1). Now notice that this is about us being saved. (Remember we have been
Saved, we are being saved, and we will be saved, so what Peter is
Talking about is this place where we have been saved and we are in
That place where we are being saved or we could call it sanctified)

2). Look at 1Peter 2:10. (This salvation that is being discussed has been
Looked into by the prophets, they were looking for what time period
This would happen, and it was revealed to them that they were not
Serving themselves but us, and look verse 12 the angels are looking
Into this)

3). Back to 1Peter 1:7. (All of this has to do with praise, glory and honor
At the revelation of Yahshua Messiah)

4). Look at Is. 48:1-11. (Israel and Judah had sworn by the name of
Yahweh but not in truth and righteous, they were worshipping other
Gods but look at Is. 48:10-11 He will not give His glory to another,
Whether it be other gods or even us)

5). Look at Is. 60:1-5. (Let’s look first at Is. 59:9 notice they shouted out
For light to come to them and free them from the darkness they were
In, the word for light here is Or meaning happiness same word used
In the creation passage Gen. 1:3)

6). Yahweh’s answer to them is in Is. 60:1-5. (In V1 Yahweh tells them to
Arise and shine for their light has “come” now this word “to come”
Is in the Hebrew it is “Bo” so light is not something that they had
Within themselves this light came to them and they were to stand and
Let it shine it is the glory of Yahweh that shines over them)

7). Look at 1 John 1:10. (Notice it is Yahweh who is light and there is no
Darkness in Him, this is important for us to understand because if we
Are in the dark where we have to grope along the wall then it is us
Who have walked away from Him there is no darkness in Him as in
Is. 59:9-10)

8). Back to 1John 1:6. (That is exactly what John is discussing here if we
Say we have fellowship with Him and yet we are in darkness we are
Liars, and that would be true for our fellowship with others, we can’t
Have fellowship with one another without being in the light)

9). Look at Acts 2:42. (This is the same word for fellowship used in 1John
1: 6 and this is a picture that they were experiencing and they
Experienced in Acts it says KJV that they were in one accord, and
The GK says in one mind, this begins to show us something here)

10). Look at 1Cor. 2:15-16. (Those of us who are spiritual people are able
To evaluate spiritual things and we are able to know what Yahweh
Yahshua Messiah mind is because we have the mind of Messiah, so
Through walking in the light with Him we are able to share the same
Mind that of Messiah)

11). Look at 2 Cor. 3:12-18. (The veil has been removed by the Master
And we are being transformed into the same image as our Messiah
So through our transformation we are able to glorify our Master
And Savior so through us the can see His reflection of His glory
And they will be drawn to Him)

12). And that is what Paul is talking about. (Through these trial’s and
Tribulations we are being transformed into the image of our
Messiah to that we can be reflectors of His glory first)

13). Secondly. (Through these trials there is a hope that is being build in
Us that will never disappoint because Yahweh’s love is being poured
Out in our hearts)

4. Let’s continue talking about this salvation that has been given to us by Yahweh.

5. Read Rom. 5:6-11, Pray!

I. This took place while we were without strength. V5-11

A. Interesting why to start this passage.

1. Now, the phrase “while we were still helpless” is the interesting part.

a. This “still helpless” is tied to. (Verse 5 Yahweh’s Love and therefore we
need to look at it from that stand point)

b. We could look at from this stand point. (We were helpless in being able to
do anything about our condition, in others words we were dead in our
sins or trespasses and unable to gain life on our own)

1). The word “helpless”. (Is lacking protection or support, the inability to
Act or react, we could not make or condition od dead better)

2). If we didn’t receive help. (We would never have life, or the ability to
Live and breath the breath we have now)

c. But because of. (Yahweh’s “love” has been poured out in our hearts
through the Holy Spirit we have life Romans 5:5)

1). This word “love”. (The GK word used here is agape which is the
Highest form of love, and embraces a universal, unconditional love
That serves regardless of circumstances, in fact, this source of love
Originates from Yahweh and is expressed through Yahshua Messiah
It refers to a covenant love)

2). Turn with me to Malachi 1:1-5. (This is about the First Born Covenant
That was made with Jacob Gen. 25:27-34, showing that Yahweh has
And will continue to keep that covenant with Israel as it says in Mal
1:1-5)

3). The Holy Spirit. (In GK and in Heb. Is set apart breath, so His love
Is poured into our hearts by His set apart Spirit look at Gal. 5:22-23
The fruit of the Spirit which the first is love)

d. Now look at this next part of the sentence. (Messiah came at the appointed
moment, the GK word is “chronos” and it means a specific time or in
in Heb. It would be “moedim” which we know to be Passover look at
Mark 15:42)

1). Look at Ex. 11:1-5. (Now when you look at this passage we are talking
Life and death, the same condition that is being discussed in Rom.
5:5-6, and look at Ex. 12:1-7 is about the blood covering that would
Keep them from death, once again just as is being talked about in
Rom. 5:5-6, look also at Gal. 4:4)

2). Let’s look at the last part of Rom 5:6. (Who did he die for? It was the
Ungodly and the GK word used here means impious, irreverent, and
Wicked)

3). Then Paul makes the point. (That really for the most part people
Wouldn’t die for good people much less wicked people)

4). But Yahweh proves His love for us. (That while we were still sinners
Messiah died for us, while we were still wicked He died for us, and
Paul says this proves His love for us, the GK word used here means
To exhibit so this ought to say that Messiah’s death exhibits His love
For us)

5). Turn to John 3:16. (I like the way my Bible translates this, “For
Yahweh loved the world in this way, He gave His Only Son, so that
Everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life”
It agrees that this was a display of His love for us and the world)

6). Look at Rom. 5:9. (It says we “have been” declared righteous by His
Blood, the word righteous, remember righteous and justified can be
Interchangeable and means to be render innocent or not guilty, so
We were sinners and wicked but by His blood we are declared not
Guilty or innocent od all of that)

7). Look at Eph. 2:1-6. (Once we were dead in our trespasses but now we
Have been made alive with Messiah through His blood look at Lev.
16:1-17 the idea of blood purifying from sin, look at Heb. 9:15-28
And Heb. 10:1-18)

8). Rom. 5:10 says this. (That we were enemies GK adversaries with
Him but through the blood of Messiah we have been reconciled to
To Him and reconciled in the GK means to change mutually this
Has to do with our relationship with Yahweh we go from being
Enemies to friends look at John 15:13-15)

9). Look closely at Rom. 5:10. (Not only does our relationship change
With Yahweh but we are given life through the life of Yahshua)

10). In Rom. 5:11. (My version uses to reconcile and the KJV uses the
Word atonement and the ISR uses restoration, the GK word is a
related word to reconcile just a different form and really adds the
words atonement and restoration which really all of these words
has to do with the restoration of the Kingdom)

11). But if you will notice. (In the passages that we have look at today
There is a pattern and this is important, I have seen people get
This out of order, the first place or the starting place is deals with
The restoration of our relationship with Yahweh through Yahshua
Messiah, there is no other way)
